Toilet cleaners work under poor working conditions

Toilet cleaners in East London are complaining about bad working conditions. Working under the Expanded Public Works Programme, the cleaners, the majority of them women, say they do not get protective gear and sometimes have to buy cleaning materials themselves. Some work without an uniform.

Fort Hare SRC blames NSFAS on delayed student payment

Thousands of students from three Eastern Cape universities may not receive payments from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) this year. According to a report released by NSFAS, this is due to the fact that some students didn’t sign their agreement forms for funding.

ANC members tell Kgalema Motlanthe: Remove corrupt councillors

ANC members and supporters in Buffalo City pleaded with former president Kgalema Motlanthe to remove corrupt ward councillors and approach the national office to disband their party’s regional and provincial leadership.
Motlanthe and other ANC leaders were in East London this week to review legislation passed by the government. The meeting took place at the East London Christian Centre. Hundreds of people participated.
