Allegations of housing corruption have been made against Ward 44 councillor in Cape Town by members of the community who have been on the City’s housing list for years while Councillor Anthony Moses has been living in a Community Rental Unit since 2011. As a councillor, they say, his income should disqualify him from residency there.

Activists want Sea Point land for affordable housing

Just when South Africans are discussing the motion that calls for constitutional review to allow for expropriation of land without compensation, Ndifuna Ukwazi, an activist group is calling for the leasing of land in Sea Point for low-cost housing while the City of Cape Town wants to lease it to sports clubs.

About 300 delegates that attended the Alternative Mining Indaba (AMI) marched through the streets of Cape Town to hand over a memorandum to the Mining Indaba. The AMI is a conference of community activists, environmentalists and religious groups that runs parallel to the Mining Indaba, which is attended by mine owners and government officials.
